Geladona is a unique café in Toronto that brings together the rich flavors of Brazilian culture with a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. Born from the inspiration of two Brazilian immigrants—an LGBTQ couple Mari & Flor Geladona is much more than just a place to enjoy delicious frozen treats and coffee. It’s a haven for the Brazilian queer community and a safe space for those seeking connection, comfort, and a taste of home.

At the heart of Geladona is its dedication to handcrafted frozen treats, inspired by a beloved Brazilian tradition. "In Brazil, making and selling geladinho (also known as sacolé, din din, gelinho e etc) is a common way for moms and grandmas to generate extra income. These small, frozen treats made from fresh fruit juice, condensed milk, are a staple in Brazilian neighborhoods, especially in the summer. Geladona takes this tradition and elevates it by offering premium, small-batch frozen desserts, from exotic fruit to creamy favorites, all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients.

In addition to these iconic frozen treats, Geladona also celebrates another key element of Brazilian culture: coffee. Brazil is renowned for its rich coffee culture, and the café serves locally roasted Brazilian coffee, bringing an authentic, full-bodied flavor to Toronto. This makes Geladona the perfect spot for those who crave both refreshing frozen desserts and the warmth of Brazilian coffee.

The café was founded by an LGBTQ couple, and from the very beginning, they envisioned Geladona as a safe space for the Brazilian queer community. The café also offers pão de queijo, the famous gluten-free Brazilian cheese bread, as well as pão de queijo sandwiches with unique fillings like carne seca & requeijão (dried beef with Brazilian cream cheese) and guava & cheese—a delightful mix of sweet and savory that reflects the diverse culinary landscape of Brazil.
